‘Take a Bow’, Misty Copeland! A big congratulations to BGCA Alum Misty Copeland whose hard work is still paying off. The Missouri-born dancer and San Pedro Boys & Girls Club alumna was named principal dancer with American Ballet Theater - the first African-American ballerina to ever receive the status in the company’s 75-year history. We are so proud of you, Misty and you continue to inspire us!

See talented and down-to-earth Misty talk to a MyClubMyLife reporter at last year’s national YOY:

And check out her beautiful dancing. It’s truly a testament to what skill, hard work, dedication and persistence can do!

This is *fantastic* news! Congrats, Misty! The Movement is proud of what you’ve done. Some day soon, we’ll be sure to catch the ABT on stage.
