Located in midtown Atlanta, The High Museum is one of the most important art museums located in the Southeast. Their permanent collection consists of more than 14,000 pieces, all dated from hundreds of years back to more recent years. It is 95th among world art museums and they have new exhibits every few months.
The High Museum is my Valentine’s Day spot. I’ve been brought here for the past few years by my lovely boyfriend who knows how much I love it. I love the art and the atmosphere in the building. If you’re anything like me, you would love how quiet and peaceful it is. I could just sit in the middle of a room and observe the paintings and the people around me for hours.
Museums are a great place to take photographs as well. I love taking my camera and getting detail shots of paint strokes or sculptures. I take pictures of the people around the museum and the trance the art seems to put them in. The light that comes through the windows and the calm air seems to do it for me. I can just sit and stare for hours.
If you appreciate art as much as I do, then you should definitely go to The High. Even if you don’t appreciate art as much as I do, you should still go. It’s about more than the art. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re listening to your favorite song. You just want to close your eyes and enjoy. You feel safe and comfortable like no one can touch you. So sit back and enjoy your visit to The High.
