I became involved in the program due to my interest of how something works. To be able to learn, create and lay the foundation for the finished product really got me excited. This course took four weeks to complete and I hung in there. Learning about different animals and their habitat turned into engaging discussions on why animals are created so differently. The best part of the program was actually creating the animal with a lot of hands on work getting to finally see the animal I selected come into reality. I learned that there are four common wing shapes of a bird. The different shapes and sizes of the wings determined the speed, and all of this is surrounded around gravity. I would recommend this project for all ages because this would help members learn how to do research based on math and science, with a simple project that they may enjoy learning about. I have discovered by doing this project the importance of STEM and it also can be really fun. Not only was I able to do some critical thinking, but it also impacted my academic performance outside the classroom.
