Keystone Highlights European Trip
Youths of the Year begin European tour in Germany at 2009 European Keystone Leadership Summit before going separate ways across the Continent!

After Shonnetta, Ashley, Jamaal and I arrived, we made our way to Ramstein Air Base. the week began with meetings with commanders and chiefs and then moved to a tour of an ancient castle in Landstuhl, Germany. We toured the base and then prepared for the European Keystone Leadership Summit.
Euro Summit
The Summit was awesome! Air force, army and navy teens gathered together for a week of high ropes courses; NATO headquarters tours, scavenger hunts and great sessions. I even ran a session with BGCA Military Services European Regional Service Director Teresa Quinn-Vesley called “The Generational Gap,” where teens talked about the differences between our generation and that of our parents and Keystone advisors and discussed ways we can bridge the gap.
Onto Heidelberg
After the conference wrapped, we took a trip to Heidelberg to see the famous Heidelberg Castle which holds the largest wine cask ever built! This past Saturday we continued our sight-seeing, making our way to Trier, where we toured the famous philosopher Karl Marx’s home and stumbled upon a German rap battle!
Next stop, Italy!
Today I fly out to Venice and make my way to Aviano Air Force Base in northern Italy. If this has been my first two weeks, I can’t wait to see what the next four weeks in Aviano have in store for me. I will keep everyone posted!
Until then,
Demetrice
